Acetic acid is an important organic chemical raw material with a pungent odor, readily soluble in water and most organic solvents. It is a crucial basic raw material for the production of vinyl acetate, cellulose acetate, acetate ester solvents, and many fine chemicals. Acetic acid is widely used in the chemical, textile, pharmaceutical, pesticide, rubber, food additive (food grade), dye, and printing and dyeing industries; in plastics manufacturing, it is used to produce polyvinyl alcohol and polyvinyl acetate; in pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals, it is used as a synthetic intermediate; and it plays a key role in cleaning, pickling, leather processing, and water treatment. It is one of the most widely used basic chemicals globally.
